hey, i need help. i want to upgrade an old dell dimension
4300s computer to play games on. i was planning on
upgrading the memory to 1 gb and the Hard drive to
either 500 gig or 1TB. I just need help figuring out a
graphics card and anything else i might need. . . .
please help/ send suggestions :]
the computer is a thin set tower
i attached a pic of what it looks like.
Thanks again-xBrandoniscoolx-

According to the Dell specs you are limited to a max of 512MB RAM. There is a 4x 1.5v AGP connector availiable, but if you want a modern AGP 8x card, you will need to find one that is backwards compatible with AGP 4x. IMO, you're better off saving your money for a new rig.

Plus you will almost certainly be restricted to a maximum hard disk size of 126 Mbs and you will need an upgraded power supply. 130 watts isn't going to power much over what you already have.
I agree, save up for something new.

The upgrade is uneconomical, in the UK the Tower is worth £30.00 as is, and a hard drive alone is going to cost more than its value. Invest you money in a newer PC, even second-hand. Those Dell's were designed primarily for SOHO!

details.asp?EdpNo=4329711&CatId=1916is this something you would suggest starting with if i wanna
build a computer?
i wanna stay pretty cheap and i only wanna be able to run
source games in steam like Half life 2 Counter Strike Source
and Left 4 Dead smoothly
any suggestions on that/

this is what was supposed to come up in the last post
got to tigerdirect.com
and search
MSI Socket AM2 Barebone kit

You just didn't post the link correctly:

It says, "THIS ITEM IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE" & doesn't list a price.
Regardless, you'd still need a CPU cooling fan, video card, optical drive & hard drive...possibly a better power supply. And I don't know why they would include DDR2-667 RAM when the proper memory for an AMD system is DDR2-800.
