Name: Richard Trahar
I have and MSI K8T NEO FIS2R with the latest 1.60 BIOS, spec in sig
I wanted to add another stick of DDR PC3200, nice and simple I though until I turned it on and the RAM was running at 333mhz instead of 400mhz, so I went into the BIOS and forced the RAM to run at 400mhz, yet it still ran at 333mhz, I took my other 2 sticks of 512mb DDR PC3200 out and booted it with just the new one and my PC automatically detected it as 400mhz, strange I thought, so put my other 2 back in so now I had a total of 1.5GB DDR PC3200, booted up and ran at 333 again and I can't force it to run a 400
all sticks are the same memory, Samsung DDR PC3200 and all stick are error free and they do work great at 333 but it's a lot slower
Anyone now of a solution
Thanks all
Zero Cool

Your RAM is probably double-sided. The memory will only run at full DDR-400 speed if you have three sticks of single-sided RAM. If you have double-sided DDR-400 RAM you can only have two sticks to run at full speed.
From the specs:
Note: PC3200 (DDR400) maximum 4 banks (2 double-sided) onlyDIMM 1 (Bank 0 & 1) S/D
DIMM 2 (Bank 2 & 3) S/D
DIMM 3 (Bank 4 & 5) S/DAlso, see page 2-11 in the manual.

Thanks for the info egkenny, yes my sticks are double sided
least I have a spare stick :-)
