if i want to upgrade my hewlett packard pc do i gotta buy special hp parts or can i for example just buy any maxtor hard drive and kingston memory? thanks

You can use any part as long as the mother board can support it. HP doesn't make anything they buy parts from someone and slap a HP sticker on it. Just find out what MB is in your PC and go to the manufacters website and look it up. It'll tell you what memmory, size HD, agp, and cpu you can handle.
