Comment: Could someone please help me out? I have an emachine T2482 which has onboard viedo and I want to install an ATI all in wonder pro 128 16mb AGP card in it. Could someone give me step by step instructions oh how to do this? I need to also know about turning of the onboard video too. It has a Via KM266 chipset if that needs to be known. I would be greatful for any help you could give. And will this card be better than the onboard video? I am not a heavy gamer just an adventure game every once in a while. Thanks for your time in this matter.

Reply: (edit)Not too familiar with eMachines myself, but in most cases, inserting a vid card in the AGP slot automatically disables onboard video, but in case it doesn't, it can be done easily via the BIOS. Simply enter the BIOS by pressing either "Del" or "F1", depends on your system, you should be able to find something titled "Intergrated Peripherals", in there your should find an option to diable onboard video. Failing that, it may also be under "Advanced BIOS Setup" or something along those lines. Hope this helped in some way. Choose to disable the onboard video, then simply save settings and exit.

Reply: (edit)Install the new card and install the drivers for it before disabling the onboard video.

Reply: (edit)i had an emachines and most don't have agp slots, the front will say a onboard agp graphics excelerator but there is no agp slot, the slot is brown and above all the pci (white) slots. but if you do have one then just put the card in, reboot, install drivers. then you can right click on 'My Computer' and then go to hardware tab, then device manager, go into display adapters, find the onboard, go into it and disable it, hope this helps
