I would appreciate any suggestions on an affordable and dependable video card for this system. Would a Geforce FX 5200 AGP 8x, 128mb DDR work without conflicts? I also need a video card in a Athlon 64 3000+Newcastle, Motherboard, 1gb GEIL PC3200 running XP Pro. Not sure what to look for on a 64 system to try some video editing of dvds. Any help is appreciated.

it all depends if your motherboard has AGP or PCI...better make sure before making any buys..and for DVD editing i recommend an ATi Radeon...ATi is better for multimedia..
MB: Albatron K8X250GB Pro
CPU: AMDSempron 3300+~2.0GHZ OC @ 2.4GHz
Video: BFG nVidia 6800 GT OC 256 MB RAM
RAM: 1.5 GB GEiL PC3200
Sound: SoundBlaster Creative Audigy SE
OS: WINXP

but as for the nVidia..good choice..nVidia is always a good buy..i would go wik the 6600 GT instead...

the Asus P4GV-LA only is equipped with 3 PCI ports. There is no AGP.
I have the Nividia GeForce FX 5200 8x 128MB video card, and it does fine for word processing, surfing, and little things. If you want to play games, don't expect much from this card. AOE3 had to be run on the lowest settings, and it still lagged. Unreal tournament 2004, runs decent, a little lag, but not too noticiable on normal settings. Or at least that is how it runs on my system. (1GB PC3200 Ram, 3400+ AMD 64 Athlon with 512 L2 catch)
Your price range was not mentioned to help you find a graphics card, but I kinda lean toward getting the best you can afford.
well looking at new egg the FX5200 XFX card is $53 + 7 shipping. so staying in the $60 area market, I would suggest the .... well, it seems that in the PCI catagory, new egg really doesn't have much besides the 5200.
I can't recommend anything. All I can say is that the GeForce FX 5200 8x that I have, (and it is a APG version), works fine and is very stable.
Hope that helps!
