What is the extension of the files you're trying to open? For example, if the file name is "Example.doc" then the extension is ".doc". If the file name is "Example.docx" then the extension is ".docx".

"installed win 2007 " I take it you mean Word or Office 2007.
As previous poster said we need to know the file extension.
If' you have Word installed and are trying to open *.doc file which doesn't open you should be getting a message asking to choose a program to use for opening it.
If Word is not on the list shown, choose a prgram by browsing to the Programs directory and find MS Office and select Word.

Try the Office Software Forum on this Site. It's in the list of forums.

There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.

Try using a live cd like Knoppix or ubcd4win to see if you can
copy the file to a usb, then try opening on another computer.

By the way. What about your backups?

Hotmail & google have online storage.

Khoppix
http://www.knoppix.org/

download & burn iso file

Or system rescue

http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page

Or ERD commander

http://www.fullandfree.info/softwar...

These if burned correctly, will allow you to boot from cd,
hopefully you will be able to then see the files & copy to a usb
stick.
