Hi all,

Recently I had both my hardrives crash with bad sectors on my laptop. I have been playing recent high graphics games on my laptop and it use to shutdown after few minutes due to overheating. This tremendous heat has caused the hardrives to develop serious bad sectors and HDD failures I suspect. I got them replaced now.

To avoid this kind of issue I want to install some good software which is commonly used and effective that monitors all hardware attributes that can potentially cause a breakdown especially atleast for the CPU and HDD's...Please help me.

Thank You!!

My BIOS has temperature settings. I have set the alarm to come on at a certain temp. I think you can also set SMART in the BIOS.

Perhaps, that will suit your purpose.

Before posting try google. Backup. Use anti virus software.

Get a laptop cooler that the laptop sets on. The only way for software to keep your computer cooler is to throttle it back. That isn't what you want when game playing. If you are a serious gamer you should get a desktop machine with adequate cooling. BTW, 2 harddrives? One removable or external?

My laptop 2 internal HDD's. BTW I ordered for a laptop cooler with 4 fans as well to prevent this issue. Will it be effective enough?..I dont know how effective these laptop coolers are...please let me know.

UnfortunatelyI bought this laptop just recently and I cannot invest in a desktop in near future anymore though I already know I made a mistake

Thank You!!

One of your harddrives is probably removable as in a drive bay that can accept other types of drives.

You will find out how effective the cooler is once you put it to use.

Actually, I meant "your guess is as good as mine". There are no doubt many different cooler units available and then there is the amount of stress you apply to the laptop.

I have read where folks here have had some sucess using these units. That is why I suggested it.

Also, make sure you are not in any way blocking the vents. This means having the laptop on a smooth, flat surface, not in your lap where your pants can block the vents, or on a desk or tabletop with a tablecloth or papers underneath or nearby. Cloth and papers can easily get sucked up to the case and block the vents.

thank you all for you responses and help. I got my "quadcooler" for my laptop which I ordered. It is doing absolutely wonderful job keeping the HDD and CPU down considerably. I never thought it would this effective...It is a great product as it has 4 fans in it..With this I am sure I will never the overheating problem again...Now my laptop does not heat up even if I play "world in conflict" for a whole day...previously it use shutdown within 30 mins.

Anyways thank you again for ur suggestions.

Thank You!!
