Hi,

I have Dual Core 3.4Ghz processor and my VMware esx server runs very slow on it, so planning to buy core 2 duo or quad core processor. But i dont want to waste the current processor, is there any motherboard which has dual cpu socket , also supports dual core and core2 duo or quad core.

Thanks
Roshan

Sell the old processor. That would probably be cheaper than buying a motherboard like that. No real gain anyway unless the programs you are running can take advantage of it.

Resale value of a used Pentium D 945? I found a refurbed one for about $100 US with a 90 day warranty. That seems a bit high, especially when you get can a new Pentium Wolfdale E5400 or E6300 for less than $100 & they come with a full 3 yr warranty, not to mention they're MUCH better CPUs.

Check eBay to see what they're selling for in your country.
