This computer runs like s---. Its the slowest thing in the world next semester I'm starting my programming classes and i need a computer that's fast enough to run the programs i need also Including photoshop which i use for some freelance on the side. There's really not much i think i can do to make the computer run faster with all the programs ill need on it. I figured id just get a new motherboard and cpu and more RAM and it should be as good as new. Just need some advice choosing it all out. Any advice? For my budget id like to stay at $200-$300. Is there any hope??

If your system is running slow, there can be several reasons why. Could be the CPU overheating & throttling, too many garbage programs loading at startup, too much garbage installed & not cleaned regularly, etc, etc. 512MB certainly isn't enough RAM these days so a memory upgrade should help, but since you have a weak CPU & crappy board, you may wanna consider just selling your outdated system & buying a new one.

Max out the ram and invest in a decent graphics card.

Memory Installed 512 MB
Maximum allowed 2 GB (2 x 1 GB)
Speed supported PC-3200 MB/sec
Type 184 pin, DDR SDRAM

You have a PCIe X16 slot for a graphics card. You can achieve your main requirements without replacing motherboard & CPU.

The only thing to look out for is the powersupply and whether the original unit is sufficient to drive a decent graphics card..

This one has a relatively low power requirement @ about 50W which is less than 5 amps on the 12V rail.
