This is taken straight from the website you are looking at buying from.

"System Requirements:

AGP based PC is required with one 4X/8X AGP slot available on the motherboard
400 Watt or greater power supply is recommended with one 6 pin power connector
Certified power supplies are recommended. Refer to for a list of Certified products
1GB of system memory recommended "

Does your powersupply have an available 6 pin connector?
Does it have a single 12V rail or multiple 12V rails? What brand/model

The other thing to ask is whether the card is backwards compatible with DX 9.0c since that is the highest DX standard that runs on XP.

I have a similar ATI card running in a P4 XP System on a gigabyte motherboard and it does the job nicely. My next step up will have to be a complete new system.

Do you mean P4S800-MX?

Not a good board. Obviously it's old/outdated, plus it's based on a crappy SiS chipset. What do you hope to accomplish by updating the video card & why would you buy one that costs more than your entire system is worth?

Your system may be worth $50. The card you're considering costs how much - $75 or more? Plus it's a gaming card, is that want you want/need? Why don't you just replace the fan on the MX 420?
