Subject: Mysterious crashes OS: Windows XP CPU/Ram: athlon xp 1700+ / 256mb
|
Comment: I'll try to explain this as clear as possible I have: - Athlon XP 1700+ - Motherboard Asus A7A266-E - DDR 256mb RAM - Geforce2 MX 400 64mb - 40gb IBM Since I bought this new material several crashes happen day by day, so I thought it was from the RAM and I exchange it for another ddr dimm, but it all stays the same. I have updated the BIOS, the whole computer went to the store to fix and they change the CPU and motherboard. The crashing continues (not so frequent though). I format my pc and install Windows XP, yet nothing changes. In the crashes the computer hangs, I can't move the mouse, nothing (for example when i'm listening to an mp3, or something like that the sound continue repeating over and over) Someone told me it could be from the heating, i don't know...the CPU temperature at 67º is too much? should I buy a new cooler? Anybody knows what is causing this crashes? Is there anything I could do to determine the cause? Thank you for your help

Reply: (edit)Most Athlons with heat sink/fans run in the mid 40 C range so i say that running hot and problay is causing the crashes a god heat sink is a wise choice.like this http://www.micropro.com/item.htm?item_id=ACHTTA1124
