my xp os files curropting again and again

hello there..

plz can anyone solve my problem..

Im using intel p4,512 mb ram and 40 GB of HDD xp in it. recently I have installed and Updated the xp os on my machine. after 20 days its not booting and showing the error that "NTOSKRNL.EXE" file missing or corrupt,..

what is the problem I'm not understanding.
every 20 to 30 days its corrupting one of os files.. can you suggest me to in a good way that it never make problem for me....

try running chkdsk on the volumes..Either if you are able to boot into windows or from recovery console or any other Bootable media.

Run chkdsk /r on C: and once completed,run chkdsk in read only mode.

Incase still it finds corruptions then the hDD is going bad

I tried to fix that file by inserting the xp cd into cd rom.than steps are like below...

*Press any key to boot frm cd...
*Windows setup (here all windows files loads)
*welcome to setup...
Here in getting only 3 options.

I did not find R=Repair option.

I searched on Google also.

can anyone help??
