My WD driver shows up as the CD drive and also as the USB.

Specs: Windows 7
I bought a WD external hard drive a year or so ago. When I first used it, I used it on a friend's Mac. Then when I tried to use it on a work's Window's PC, it was really difficult to use. There were lots of pop ups and things. I gave it up as a bad job. Now I need it though. When I insert the USB, the hard drive shows up and when I click on it I can add and remove files, but it also tries to autoplay something on the disc drive and it shows up there too. When I click on that, there's all the setup files and stuff, but there isn't any of that on the USB drive. I suppose it sort of works, but its weird and a bit buggy and not very ergonomic. It isn't supposed to be like this. Does anybody know how I can just set it up properly so that it works fine?
Many thanks in advance!
Paul

You need to clarify all this, your post is somewhat rambling and confusing.

"but it also tries to autoplay something on the disc drive and it shows up there too"
What is it trying to autoplay and what do you mean it shows up there too? Shows up where?

If there is an auotrun file on the drive, just delete it and it will stop whatever is trying to load.

I've used a couple of external hard drives which contain a manufacturer's software/driver on the drive, so I'm sure there's nothing to worry about.

If you don't want the whole autorun thing, format the hardrive.
