my system is getting after unpluging and pluging RAM

Specs: Windows XP, core to duo,2.66 GHz 2GB

when press my start button system is not getting started but fan is started.
After unplugging and plugging RAM it starts normally.After that it suddenly shutdowns.
It also won't get restarted.

Try cleaning RAM edge connectors with a pencil eraser, then plug the RAM in and out a few times to clear any oxide off the sockets.

Please post you complete system specs. Include make/models of your motherboard, CPU, RAM, & especially your power supply.

Hope you are NOT messing with the RAM with the computer plugged in.
