my speakers wont emit sound

Specs: Windows Vista

i plugged in my emachines computer, everythings working great. so i went to plug in my speakers. it says that they are working and that all the sound panels are on but when i turn my speakers on all i can hear is a low static noise. please help!

If you have HD sound you need to open the sound manager program and set up the ports you are using. You can also check to verify nothing is muted anywhere.

its not HD sound, i checked virthually everywhere and it says they are on and unmuted. but sound just wont come out, like i said all i can hear is that static

You may have the speakers plugged into the wrong port. Should be using line out.

just checked, they are in line out. i just cant get any sound :( i tried some speakers that work on my main computer and they didnt work on this one either

Go to Device Manager and see if your sound is listed there as working properly. While there post what the description is for your sound.

But what is the sound labeled as. Post what is listed for the sound entry.

Also post the model of your emachines computer.
