My secondary hard drive keeps crashing

Specs: Windows 7, Core I3 Intel
i have a new HP Pavillion desktop computer that came with 1 1TB WD Hard Drive
i added a second 500GB WD Hard Drive to be used with Comodo for a backup drive. It worked fine for the first two months then one day the hdd crashed. I tried the hard drive in another system and externally and nothing can be read. I purchased a new 750GB Seagate hard drive for the backup drive and within 3 weeks it did the same thing. Any ideas?????

Well you are either having bad luck or it sounds like the hd is being under powered.

If it is under powered because of a bad power supply or a faulty (cheap) molex extender the motor gives out.

Even though the computer is new, I would test the power supply, test the molex used to power the hd....and of course send the bad hds back for a replacement.
