My PC will not start.... When i unplug and re-plug the power cord to the back a orange light automatically turns on on my pc, but when i hit the switch to turn on it wont turn on... The only things working is the power supply fan and the orange light... I've already changed the power supply and same thing happened.. I also tried a different hard drive and same thing happens.... Now i am starting to think that either my motherboard is no good or simply my power switch is not working.... Any suggestions???

yes what is the history of this machine

just at first thought my next troubleshooting thing would be try to replace the RAM it may be bad because bad RAM can definitely cause this, also how is the cooling in this machine because a bad CPU could be a culprit as well

but mainly we need to know more about the machine before making any more accurate judgement

WEll it was working fine but my front switch button sometimes would get stuck and i would have to pull it out with a knife or something thin. One time i turned it off regular and then the problem started. So i unplugged it from the back then replugged it and when i plugged it the orange light came up and it wont get past that... Then i senced a smell of burn so i opened it up and it was coming from inside. I guess that my processor fan wasnt running when i plugged it back and the orange light came up.... So then i let it cooled off and I changed the power supply, same result, then i tried a different hard drive same result. So Now i am wondering if it's the switch in the front or my motherboard burned out. I really don't know, iam not very genious with hardware pcs. So i need help or at least some advice before i take it to get it fixed and get charged a couple hundred dollars.. So please feel free to let me know what you think....

you probably fried the CPU because of the fan thing. first try new RAM, then CPU, then if nothing changes after that then the mobo is toasted

older technology is the s---; keep it running
