Comment: I wonder if anyone can help me. The problem I'm having is that my PC won't start. When I push the power button, the PC comes on, the lights on the keyboard flicker on and then go off - they then stay off. The monitor doesn't react at all. When I unplug the monitor cable from the PC, I receive a message on the monitor "No Connection - Check Signal Cable". The CD-ROM doesn't open; it makes some sound as though it would open, but it doesn't. The busy light is on for a while and then goes off. The power light is always on and stable. Also, I don't get the usual beeps when the system starts. Any thoughts on what might be the issue here. Thanks and sorry to saddle you with this. folud02

Reply: (edit)Primary boot fail !!! The fact the pc starts when the power is switched on sugest power supply is ok. What I can sugest you unplug the unit from the power socket and remove the ram module from the board. let it sit for about 15 minutes than place it back very carefully. Try starting the pc again in the normal manner. If you have no boot screen again, you ram module may have blown. Hope that helps IF IT AINT BROKE, DONT FIX IT

Reply: (edit)I go along with ddp59. However the fact that the cdrom drive is acting strange would cause me to start by disconnecting it first.

Reply: (edit)No beep codes usually point to the processor. However RAM and Motherboard can't be ruled out. Try removing the RAM and powering on the system without it. If you hear annoying beeps, then you know the RAM is at fault.
