You're comparing a 600mhz machine to a 1600mhz machine & wondering why it's faster?

FYI Oleg, 1.6GHZ = 1600MHZ, that's almost 3Xs as fast as the 600MHZ processor speed, that's not even taking into account the fact that you're almost certain to have a higher FSB speed (that's the speed at which the processor talkst to the rest of the motherboard) on the 1.6GHZ machine.

Obviously English is not your natural language. Your translations are not making sense. I suggest that you find someone who speaks your language to either help you or translate for you.

Oleg says that he has a dimension 2400. His cpu/ram is showing 2.6. I think he is saying that his computer is running like a 600 mhz instead of the 2.6 that he has and that the none dell 1.6 is running faster with programs running in the background too.

Oleg there could be a number of things causing this. How long have you had your computer? If it is still under warranty you could take it back and have them figure it out. If you have done a lot of installing and uninstalling but never defragged your hd or did a disk clean up, you may have a lot of files that are scattered and your cpu has to work to find the info before it can open something. You could have spyware or adware that is taking up the cpu usage. Or it could be a virus of some sort. Last but least it could very well be hardware related. If you don't already have them, you should download Ad-a-ware, Spybot Search & Destroy, CWShredder. Update them and then run them. See what it brings up.

It was slow right out of the box.

If it was slow right out of the box then you should contact Dell. They are suppose to be really good with support. At least that is what is advertised. Don't settle for something that you are not happy with.
