My PC restarts a minute after booting up

Specs: Windows XP
Hi

My PC restarts about a minute or so after booting Windows XP. I tried to do a system restore, but as I start to navigate my way there, it just restarts. No BSOD (blue screen), nothing! It gives me and error message that "Windows has recovered from a serious error", and then it reboots again. I know it can't be overheating, cause when I enter the BIOS and leave the PC for a while, nothing happens. I have 2Gb of RAM (4 sticks of 512mb's) and a 2Ghz CPU (AMD Athlon 3200+ ). Oh, and when Windows is loading, it takes a really long time, but I think it is because of the error...

Boot into safe mode and then run the system file checker through the Command Prompt. You do this by typing sfc /scannow once you get to the MS-DOS looking prompt.

Already tried that, but as it starts up, it just reboots again without any warning
