2000 Hyundai elantra gls wagon's onboard computer wont connect with OBD scanner for the emissions test. I've already changed the fuses. How can I fix this?

This is a computer forum, not automotive. Maybe you should ask a Hyundai dealer.

The common OBD scanners are useless. They only provide codes that offer some clue but really are of no help to fix it correctly. When it comes to emissions you don't test it with an OBD. You need a 4 or 5 gas tester. The scan tool only tells of hard and maybe some soft codes.

Sadly the only people with the tools and hopefully training is the dealer. They generally stink when it comes to service. The entire system is meant to not help you. If they make mistakes you end up paying for it.

I'd trade in the car or consider letting a dealer use advanced scan tools on it.

More likely that the scan tool you have doesn't support that model or year.

The obd port is generally connected to the computer.

Hang up and live.

You also usually need to have the ignition turn to the on position in order for the scanner to communicate with the car's computer.
