I have had my new mouse for about 3-4 months and its been workin great. Its an optical-wireless mouse from Microsoft. It is also USB compatible. Today i got tired of using the little finger thing om my laptop, so i connected the new mouse to my sisters laptop, and put an old mouse into my desktop. Now when i connect the new mouse back into my desktop, it lights up, but DOESNT WORK. IM LIKE WTF! is this because i put the old mouse, because i dont get why this would happen. I need help! Please can someone tell me why this is happening. BTW, if u didnt understand a part of what i said, feel free to ask!

Did you restart the computer after you plugged it in?

Did you try a different USB port?

You might have to remove the drivers from the other mouse before connecting the new one.
But plugging it into another USB port always works for me.

windows does a fairly poor job of detecting mice so its always good when switching mice to go into device manager and remove the mouse driver, then manually add the correct driver using the install diskette or CD.
