ok so i had a nvidia tnt hooked upto my computer to use a-video out anyway my computer started shutting off on its own, i figured it may be a virus, but i leaved it be and disconnected from the internet on it, now all of the sudden i try to turn it on today, the monitor wont come up and the s-video comes up just as a white screen, so i tried disconnectoing the card, and using the onboard to the same result nothing pops up i can hear the hard drive and stuff booting up, any idea what could be causing this?

See response 2 in this - try cleaning the contacts on the ram modules, and making sure they are well seated in their slots.

While you're at it, clean the contacts on your cards.

By the way, emachine computers have a reputation of using power supplies that fail more often than average, and when they do fail, they are more likely than average to damage something else - often they will fry the mboard - especially if the PS brand is Bestec.
It is a very good idea to have a software utility that monitors voltages and temperatures loaded all the time in Windows that is set to warn you if the voltages get out of whack if you have an emachines computer.
Or - your PS may already be failing - Check your PS.

Take the monitor apart, unplug it of course and check connections,it should be pretty dirty dont worry about that just check important connections

Unless you really have an IDEA of the STORED VOLTAGE and the possibility of harming yourself stay out of the INSIDE of any CRT styled monitor, they can do more than just HURT you.
Please please please ignore the above post as this person has not even a clue when it comes to this stuff....
