Specs: windows xp
So I'm trying to update my moms old computer a little bit. She has a dell dimension 2400 with xp home. I took the motherboard out of my old dimension 3000 because I had a faster processor And a better motherboard. Everything looked exactly the same as far as how everything was plugged in, and both had the same type power supply. I know that both computers were working before I started swapping parts. Now that I reassembled hers the power button doesn't do anything, So I even tried swapping power buttons even tho they are identical. Still nothing. I cant figure out why it wont power on, any advice appreciated.

Just some basic stuff: Does the power supply have an on\off switch near where the power cord connects? Are the power switch wires connected to the motherboard on the right pins?

The Dell Dimension 2400 orginally comes with either a 200 or 250 watt power supply. If you didn't swap PSs that may not be enough capacity for the 3000's mboard.

Ram modules that work in the 2400's mboard won't necessrily work in the 3000's mboard. In the worst cases of incompatibilty, the mboard will not boot, and there are no mboard beeps. Did you use the ram modules that were in the 3000's mboard originally in the 3000's mboard ?
In addition to that, I know from experience, the 3000's mboard is more partcular about which ram modules work properly in it.
