my microphone on computer not switched on how

Specs: Windows XP
my microphone on my desktop doesn't seem to be working, can hear the other person talk but it won't allow me to talk, so i bought a headset to be able to speak into and it still not working, is there something i need to switch on, on computer?

check your volume settings and make sure the mic is unchecked. Depending on where you have it plugged in also, you might have to make sure its checked onto the front or the back. I would recommend to turn on mic boost, usually helps. Sometimes you'll hear a lot of back ground noise though.

try to check sound card driver via reinstalling it (unplugg microfone)&after install complete plugge then mic. may be it help
