Comment: I have recently installed a sound card. (creative soundblaster live 24 -bit) I can't get the mic too work properly, i have to practically blow hard into the mic to get even a little bit of sound waves in sound recorder. here are my settings http://img7.imageshack.us/my.php?image=micprob9kk.jpg (i've tried raising the mic bar in volume control obviously)

Reply: (edit)Yes i've tried messing it seems with every possible setting. Only when i literaly blow into the mic does it respond. I wonder if there are any programs that would let me change the sensitivity of the mic just like the option in ventrilo.

Reply: (edit)I've never seen a Soundblaster card with it, but there are a few sound cards that require a 'powered' microphone. I don't think that's your problem, but check the documentation, just in case.
