Specs: Windows XP
i've a presario compaq laptop, bought it second hand at a pawn shop about two years ago. i've had little problems with it save for maybe a virus which i was thankfully able to remove.
in the past few days, it has shut down on it's own. no warning or nothing. yesterday it did this and also started a "restart repair" when it was finished it said it could repair it. and did a system restore on it's own. what is going on? and what do i need to do? it doesnt seem to be overheating, yet i dont know at this point! help!

Take a vacuum to any vents to see if dust has built up.

Might look at event logs to see if any service is failing.

Boot to bios maybe to see if any health settings report temps or voltages.

Might remove battery and see if ac power will keep it on.
