Try an external monitor to determine if the issue is the laptop screen or the graphics chip. If the external monitor does NOT display correctly the problem is internal and can't be repaired. If it is the laptop screen you can replace it.

It appears that laptop is at least 5 or 6 years old. Probably not worth the cost of screen replacement.

Have you tried shutting down completely and restarting?

Whenever you poke something and there is a definite change this means that something at or near where you poked it (hardware) is the cause of the trouble. By all means try an external monitor to prove the point but it looks like your screen itself is at fault so only replacement will fix it.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
