my laptop screen flickers!

I dont know much about computers but recently my screen on my laptop started flickering. It only does it when moved to a certain position. It doesnt affect how the computer works just gets annoying at times. What could cause this? Help!!

The light is produced by a florescent lamp and ballast. Either of which might be faulty. The second issue is the way the wire's travel up from the base to the screen. They tend to get pulled, damaged or worn at hinges. It would be unusual if the power control feature was causing it but it is possible.
