When I unplug my laptop the screen darkens drastically.
How can I stop this?
I have tried to find a power setting or something to change this to no avail.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

In order to save the battery many laptops cut the brightness when on battery. You might have a menu for setting up when on battery. My Dell Latitude has one in the BIOS.
You should have a brightness control on your keybaord (usually one of the F keys + the Fn Key). It has dual memory mode. One for bettery and one for plug. Next time you have it on battery, adjust the brightness from the keyboard to a new default level.
Is it possible that the battery is on it's last legs?
I tried using different combinations of Fn + keys and discovered that the Fn key + up or down arrows made the brightness respectively more and less. The battery is brand new no problem there.
Thank you all. --NATO
