When I unplug my laptop the screen darkens drastically. How can I stop this? I have tried to find a power setting or something to change this to no avail. Can anyone help?

In order to save the battery many laptops cut the brightness when on battery. You might have a menu for setting up when on battery. My Dell Latitude has one in the BIOS.

You should have a brightness control on your keybaord (usually one of the F keys + the Fn Key). It has dual memory mode. One for bettery and one for plug. Next time you have it on battery, adjust the brightness from the keyboard to a new default level.

I tried using different combinations of Fn + keys and discovered that the Fn key + up or down arrows made the brightness respectively more and less.
