my hp pavilion cd rom stop responding

i am inserting the disk into cd rom but it is not recoznising anything, its not responsing to any cd, i dont know what happened to it

If it is seen in bios and or you can see it in windows explorer but it wont read a cd.......then auto run is turned off ...or the lens is dirty....use a lens cleaner...if no joy ... the cd rom is dead.
A lens cleaner is a cd with a small brush on it. You put it in...it runs and brushes any dirt off the lens.
The above is based on the computer not being new to you and the cd rom worked in the past.
