Hi, I had a IDE hard drive for a couple of years and one day turning the compute ron the screen gets stuck on the bios splash screen, and the hdd light stays steady green. I try many combinatons to bring it on, like replaced the IDE cable, left the disk only connected to the mobo but nothing would make the system to power on, with the hard drive on and can't even go to the motherboard, I have another disc SATA and if I disconnect the faulty disk everything works fine, now I brought my disk to work and is actually working fine, so no ideia why its crashing my system, since I only have one IDE socket on the mobo, and on the same IDE cable I have a dvd burner that works fine. have someone seen this before ?

So the small controller mounted under the IDE drive has a big issue and causes a short circuit on the IDE bus. This causes the mainboard to not boot up.

The sounds good, so I will only find out if I plug another IDE disk or another IDE device together with my dvd burner, and see if that short circuit happens, I'll try my old CD burner, if it does not make the short circuit, I guess I need to try an IDE disk instead of any IDE device. I also guess if I get a IDE to Sata converter and plugged to my disk and then to the sata port on my mobo, it will work.. a lot of testing needs to be done.. :/

Post back the result, when you've tried another IDE hard drive at the IDE bus.
