My hard drive is beeping, no image?

Specs: Windows 02.08.2010

So the hardrive on my parents computer is beeping whenever I try to turn it on. The monitor is on but since the hard drive isn't there's no image. Why's it beeping? Why does nothing happen?

Hard drives don't beep. The beeping usually comes from a small peizo or system speaker attached to the motherboard and the beep sequence tells you what is wrong.
Since you get no display it may mean the graphics has failed. Sometimes it is a ram problem. Since you have not listed any system specifications we can only guess.
Is it a laptop or desktop? Is it a brand-name system or was it custombuilt?
Does it have onboard graphics or a plug-in card?

Please provide info on make/model numbers and describe the beep sequence.

The beeping is a code telling you that something is wrong. There's usually a repeating pattern of long/short beeps, sometimes high/low tones. Most beep codes are related to memory or video, but there are other possibilities. We'd need to know the make/model of your motherboard or at least which BIOS (AMI, Award, Phoenix, etc) it uses.

Here's the AWARD beep code list...others codes are also listed in the left & right columns:

I am having the same problem on a Dell Desktop Inspiron 5305. Was working fine and now when we turn the computer on we get a constant beep and nothing comes up on the monitor. What are our options.

Again, hard drives do not beep. If you have an external drive that beeps, then there is a circuit board inside the housing with a piezo speaker on it. Hard drives do click but that is not the same as beeping.

And as Jam pointed out, the beeps are diagnostic codes. Read your manual, it should tell you what the beep sequence means.
