Every time I turn on mycomputer it starts up and then turns off. Sometimes it stays on for 30 seconds, sometimes for 5 minutes. At first I thought it might have a virus, so I started doing a complete system restore. Now, I can't even geet all the way through that and it shuts down. The computer is older. It is a hp pavilion 563w. The only change I have ever made to it was adding an ethernet card. Thanks for the help.
Sounds like it's overheating. Open the case, check the fans & blow out all the dust.

You could have stated that in your post. Did you check the temp reading in the BIOS?
Sorry, how do you check the temp reading? Just another thing I noticed, when it shuts down, something is still running. It is not the fans. I have the side panel off and can hear it, I just don't see anything moving.
