Specs: Windows 7
recently after shutting down my computer, it would not restart. i replaced the power supply which was a bestec model number: atx-250-12z rev.: d7r with a new power supply that has a slight difference in the model number. it's atx-250-12z rev.: d2 ((instead of d7r)). now it turns on, however, it wont boot up. the fans just run and the light in back is bright green. they have the same wattage ((250 watts)), does the rev number make a difference? i'm not able to find any info on this problem. any info or advice is welcomed and appreciated. thank you!

The main power to the the board, the big plug & 4 pin plug to the board, make sure the 4 pin plug is in. Check all the power connections sata cable like to come back off. 250w is like a bare bones minimum power supply and most p4 and up should have a 400 or 500w, however it did work on the old one of the same wattage,so I guess it should power it. The revision usually isn't the problem. Was the old power supply tested or did you just replace it? It may be your motherboard. Sometimes though there protections in most boards....but once in awhile the power supply goes and the board goes with it, I've seen it wipe out everything attached to the board, but hopefully this is not your case, those were rare occurrences and mostly older equipment. I would be most interested in if the old power supply was tested? What fans exactly are spinning, the cpu fan, case fans, the fan in the power supply....which are running?
