My computer won't boot

Well my cpu fan was dying so i changed it and after i got the new one on i powered the computer on the fan goes, cd-rom and hard drive has power, getting nothing, not even post. Did i pooch my cpu.

Try taking out all possible hardware. Leave RAM and other essentials. MEM

Sorry Melissa, i don't get what you're trying to say. Do you mean the power supply unit or the heatsink and fan on the cpu? If its the cpu then make sure the heatsink is sitting properly on the chip otherwise it might not run. If its the power supply unit, try what Marcos said. But since you said that there is power.....can you get to the POST screen?

hello you might just have bumped a wire check all conections.did you use a good heat sink compound? did you reconect wire to the fan?

Yeah i meant my cpu fan, i checked all the cables i have done this a dozen times before and this never happened, i took it to a friend to look at it

What ended up being the problem? My CPU fan stopped, and then after I rebooted, the system didnt come up at all... but I have power. I was thinking it was my CMOS battery?
