My Computer will not turn on

The computer will not turn on all of a sudden. It was working yesterday. I tried different power sources, I tried another power cord (from a working computer), with no results. The computer has not been used for 1 year. When I moved last year, my dog chewed the cord to the monitor so I have not been able to use the computer. I just want to get some files and pictures off the computer so I found another monitor. Yesterday it was working (turned on) but I forgot my password. I had to go home last night and get my password. Now today it is not even turning on, not even a light. What should I do?

If you don't need the machine, pull the hard drive and install it in another machine and recover whatever you want, pics etc.

That would assume i even know what the hard drive is. And also I only have lap tops now. I do not have another machine I can install it in. Any other ideas?

I'm sorry, I assumed you knew that. You could get an external hard drive enclosure, install it and hook it up to your laptop, but that would require some experience. You could take it to a local shop and have them remove it and recover your files, but you have to ask yourself if it's worth it. If it has no power to it, it could be that the PSU ( power supply ) is fried.
