Solved My computer will not recognize my CD/DVD drive

February 12, 2013 at 18:06:46
Specs: Windows 7, 3.30GHz/4 gigs

That's about all I know to say. If I put a DVD or a CD in the drive I get nothing. If I look in "computer" it doesn't even show that I have a CD/DVD drive.

If you have a Bootable disk then I suggest you try booting directly to it from a shutdown. If the disk is recognized there then the problem lies with Windows. If the disk is not recognized then you have a hardware problem. Possibly the DATA cable. I assume if the tray opens you have power to the drive.

NOTE: The boot order must show CD before the hard drive in order for this to work. Watch the screens at start up for prompts.
