Hopefully the computer will support a drive that large.

I'd buy a usb to sata gizmo.

Why don't you have service pack 3 on it now?

Don't boot the usb, you won't be able to either.

✔ Best Answer
"dell gx620- micro footprint"

Do you mean Ultra Small Form Factor?

"if i use a usb to sata adapter will it boot from usb"

No, & you don't need it to. Just leave your current HDD connected & put the new HDD in the external USB doc. You will have to partition & format it, then boot off the CD to clone the contents. If you didn't get a disc with your new HDD, go to the manufacturer's website & download.

"i don't have sp 3 because running good shut the hood logic"

More like dumb logic. Do you ever update drivers? Do you update your antivirus software? Why would you if they're "running good"?

I tried that logic with my car. Never bothered to change the oil as it was working fine. One day it just stopped working! What are the chances of that?

Gotta change oil don't you? Funny. Took me a while to figure out that good hood deal.

HEY JEFRO,
I'M ENGINEERING THIS PROJECT FOR MY EMPLOYER, WHOM IS EXTREMLY CAUTIOUS BECAUSE HE DOESN'T TRUST ANYONE BUT HIMSELF. I SUGGESTED UPGRADES AND SERVICE PACKS BUT HE WAS AFRAID I WOULD SCREW IT UP, AND HIS BUSINESS WOULD SHUT DOWN. I HAVE BEEN SCREWING UP COMPUTERS SINCE THE 8088 MODELS AND 128 KB RAM WAS A LOT.I PERSONALLY HAVE SEVERAL SEMI SUPER SYSTEMS THAT I SCREW UP ALL THE TIME. MY MAIN ONE IS 3.4GH DUAL CORE, 8GB DDR2 3.5 TB 400W POWER, TWO MULTI LAYER DVD-R AND ALL THE TOYS. HAND BUILT A PIECE AT A TIME.
BUT SERIOUSLY ONE MORE QUESTION.
I HAVE A IDE TO SATA ADAPTER (AMAZON.COM) CAN I HOOK IT TO THE CD DRIVE CABLE FOR CLONING PURPOSES?
