My computer not starting up

Specs: Windows xp professional sp2
When i switch my pc on the graphics in da bios is all messed up then when i start to load windows it freezes and da graphics of da windows logo and all dat is messed up. When da pc actually works then it freezes wen i try to play a game and all da graphics goes wack. Dont no if its my graphics card or something but it kinda sucks. P.s. Im using a foxconn motherboard, geforce 8400 gs, 2.8 ghz cpu and 1.5 gigs of ram.

sounds like bad hardware: if it was just drivers, the graphics wouldn't be screwed up until after Windows loads, but because the image is distorted in the BIOS too, it sounds like your graphics card is toast. if the card is old, or if your power supply is cheap, it's even more likely that your card is fried.

does your motherboard have onboard graphics? if so, plug the monitor into the motherboard to bypass the external card and see if the images are still screwed up.

and please, PLEASE, start using "the" instead of "da"

Sorry about the ''da'', im using my phone as i do not have internet. Oh and sorry for taking so long to reply, i had to wait till i got airtime again. It was my graphics card that was faulty. Took it in and im getting a new one. My power supply is a 400 watt - do u think thats enough for my card?
