My Computer does not start

Specs: Windows 98
I have an old Windows 98 computer which I still use just for word processing purpose (not connected to the net).

It is an Acer Aspire and for the past few months, when I press the on button, it sometimes does not start at all (no sound, no lights, zilch response), and sometimes (on lucky days) it turns on rightaway.

At times when it does not turn on, I keep my finger on the button for some 20 seconds, and it starts after that. Sometimes, I have to repeat that 20 seconds pressing down for a couple a times and it works.

Finally, couple of nights ago, no matter how many times I try that method, still no response.

Please Help. Any idea what is wrong and how do I fix it? We have a much newer compaq presario connected to the net, but I really still like my Acer Aspire for word processing purpose - it's a dinosaur but I still love it, nevertheless.

Replacing the power supply is probably worth a try.
It's definitely a hardware problem.
