Specs: Windows 8
My Acer Aspire One 725-0687 will not boot but powers on; i took the battery out, then plugged it, it still won't boot.
When I turn it on, the screen is just black. Windows won't come up.

when you first switch it on, do you see the POST screen, the screen where you have the black background with white text? or perhaps the ACER logo?

or does it appear black as soon as it boots?

If you never see anything at all on the screen you have a hardware issue.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Do you have an external monitor you can plug into? That would tell us if things are rolling along and you cannot see anything though it is all working (defective laptop screen) or if in fact you have a motherboard/hardware issue that is preventing the unit from posting. I would also try unplugging the unit, removing (always remember to remove the battery in laptops)the battery and then remove the hard drive entirely. Now plug the power cord in, turn in on and see if you atleast get a bios screen or the ACER logo...something. Another possibility, find where the ram modules are. Remove them, and put them back in place making sure they are in proper, this will make sure it's not a loose Ram module. Plug the unit back in and see if that has any affect. What can you see when you turn it on, does the hard drive light flash like windows is loading up? Is just the power light coming on??? Does it have any sounds of life?
