Not enough information.

How have you connected it to your laptop?

The usual method is to put the drive into a IDE-to-USB external hard drive enclosure which you can buy online or at a large computer store. Is that what you've done?

Thanks Phill for answering, actually yes i bought an external IDE enclosure from store, and i connected it with my laptop which is 64 BIT WIN 7. I can feel the enclosure working by putting hand over it. but my laptop isnt showing any partitions. when i looked into disk management, that was showing it but as an un allocated space. i tried to initialize it but it popped up the I/O error.

does that mean i have lost my drive :(.........please give me some solution.
