Comment: I have a 1.8ghz cpu and 512 meg of ddr RAM. This is my problem: The CPU is only showing up as 1.15ghz, and the RAM is only showing up as being 511 meg. Also, when I enter any video games, the performance is VERY choppy. My MB = ECS model K7VTA3 v3.0 My CPU = AMD Duron 1800 My OS = Windows 98SE My RAM = 512 DDR with 266mhz BUS My video card = GeForce4 MX 420 64mb SDRAM Please advise, thanks!

Reply: (edit)I assume you mean Athlon, they don't make a 1.8ghz Duron. And the Athlons are rated in comparison to Pentium 4s. So your processor is the "equivalent" to a 1.8ghz Pentium 4, but it is clocked less than that. I think the 1900 is 1.4ghz, I am not sure what the 1800 is.

Reply: (edit)As for choppy video, update drivers, and if there is pre-existent onboard video, be sure to disable it.

Reply: (edit)The 1800+ Athlons run at an actual clock of 1.53MHz. But you are running your processor at a 100MHz bus instead of 133MHz. You need to change this in the bios. 1.15GHz * 133/100 = 1.53GHz Your choppy video could be a number of reasons. Update all your drivers if you haven't already. Also the GF4 MX cards are pretty much crap. If you are playing a DX8 game then you will get poor performance since the GF4MX cards are DX7 cards.

Reply: (edit)Sorry, guy who sold it to me at the shop said it was a Duron. It is indeed an Athlon. I've been trying to figure this out all night and I'm brain dead :) Will try changing the BIOS though. Not sure what else to do at this point.

Reply: (edit)Lucky you. I have a K7VTA# v3.1 Nice aren't they. Anyways... If I remember rightly ON THE MOTHERBOARD there is a jumper for either 100mhz or 133mhz and you need to manually change that jumper to 133mhz. Then... You need to go into the memory settings and change the setting to 133mhz, and speed to "BY SPD". If you need anymore help, email me and I will return to the post, if someone else doesn't get here first of course! XxxFrancisxxxUSA@aol.com Oh, and on the choppy graphics, you must not have installed the VIA 4in1 drivers, which are vitally important, without which your computer will not operate properly. If you didn't get them with the board, you can get them from www.viatech.com Hope this all helped ya!

Reply: (edit)As mentioned before, I have the K7VTA3 v3. The K7S5A has an SIS chipset, I believe, totally different board. K7VTA3 V3 has a jumper near the AGP slot, with options for 100 or 133. You need to set it to 133.

Reply: (edit)Problem with pcchips 841lmr(sis chipset).I purchased simular baord as the ECS Motherboard and AMD ATHLON 1600, and I have the same problem. And what make me more worried is that a friend bought the same motherboard, and he has the same problem. Also we both use DDR2100 SDRAM. I know it’s a motherboard problem because I sent the CPU back to ebuyer and they said it was ok. My settings are correct for the AMD 1600 CPU, but it still changes back to 1150mhz. I will just have to get on to ebuyer.com and ask for a replacement motherboard, not pcchips 841lmr. Sorry I can't help you, but I just had to tell you that it must be a design fault with this motherboard
