my 160gb wd hdd doesnt shows in bios

Specs: Windows XP
i am using gigabyte g31 motherboard 1gb ddr2 ram and piv 2.8 ghz processer. when i turn on the computer it spins and it take a long time to detect. ive make the hdd as master , bios shows blank in the master. when i had made the hdd slave, bios blanks up the slave. it doesnt shows on bios. please somebody help me.

Detect? I thought it wasn't being detected? Since it's a WDC HDD, there are different jumper settings for master (single), master (w/slave), slave, cable select. Make sure you're using the correct setting. Also make sure you have the IDE cable plugged in correctly, not upside-down. Red stripe goes to pin #1.

ya im using this hard drive fine before.
before its damage when im using internet suddenly a blue screen appear when i restart the computer it doesnt show the hdd..

i have changed the jumper setting, new cables and new power supply but it doesnt make any change..
