MX500, use Ps/2 to usb converter?

CPU/Ram: Athlon XP 2000+, 512mb

just bought a new Logitech mx-500 optical mouse and I was wondering whether or not I should use the ps/2 to usb converter or I just plug it in using my usb port. I remember reading somewhere that PS/2 ports give better speed using the mx500 but I don't know, I've always plugged my optical mice in using the usb port. Thanks.

I like to use the PS/2 port. It just seems smoother to me than USB.
