Music tune coming from hard drive?

This happened some years ago and it just popped back into my head today. I was at a local computer store TCWO before they closed. While I was waiting for my purchase some guy walked in talking about that his hard drive failed and that music was coming from his hard drive. Everybody there gave him the usual "yeah right!" So they plugged in the hard drive and to everyones surprise it started playing a tune that resembled the kind you find in a greeting card.
Has anybody encountered a hard drive like that and if so for what reason would it play a tune?

Probably because he rigged it to play a tune and was having a little joke on you.

Actually I just fixed a Problem like that the other day, it was the memory stick went bad and after I replaced it all was well again. I too thought the drive had gone bad, but a new memory stick got it all working fine again.
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

That's the funniest thing that I've heard since I last watched South Park, Taps,.... God that's funny!!!!
I have heard that the arm on the HDD will get stuck and there will be a sound, but no particular song. Sort of like the modem sound. Random.
(Still laughing at Taps though!!)

It wasn't a regular sound you hear from a hard drive like grinding and so on. It was a tune I couldn't make it out but it did have some kind of rhythm to it. I guess it's going to remain one of those unsolved mysteries...move over Hoffa.
