I have a question. I bout the stuff to build my own pc about a year ago the guy I got the stuff helped me put it togather. Well the pc would just shut down. I figuered I was running vista on a XP mother board. I went to MSI web site got the updates for my mother board. During the process the PC Locked up. The computer comes up with Bio's Rom Checksum Error than down below it says Drive A Error System Halt. I have tryed to reset with the Battary and I have moved the jumper next to the battary. But the issue still the same after words. I am lost ready to ditch the mother board, and get another one.haha Thanks Brandon

"the pc would just shut down. I figuered I was running vista on a XP mother board"
That's ridiculous. Is the system actually shutting down or is it restarting? If it's shutting down, it's could be the CPU is overheating or the power supply is on it's way out. It could also be related to the RAM or possibly a software or driver issue. If it's restarting, you'd have to disable "automatically restart", that way an error message would be displayed telling what the problem is. Troubleshooting is the key.
"I went to MSI web site got the updates for my mother board"
Does that mean you attempted to update the BIOS? That was one of the worse things you could have done. BIOS updates are risky business in the 1st place, but running Live Update when Windows is already having problems is a recipe for disaster!
"I have tryed to reset with the Battary and I have moved the jumper next to the battary"
To reset the BIOS, you 1st have to unplug the power cord. Then move the jumper from the "normal" position to the "clear" position, wait a few seconds, then move it back again. That's all there is to it.

No great loss. It's a crappy board anyway...lol

What do you mean "witch jumpers"? 1st of all, I only mentioned ONE jumper & 2ndly, you stated in the 1st post that you "tryed to reset with the Battary and I have moved the jumper next to the battary".
The jumper I meant is labeled "JCLR1" & as far as I know, it's the only jumper on the board...it's between the SATA ports & the edge of the board.

Looks like our responses overlapped. You didn't answer my other question...did you you attempt to update the BIOS using Live Update?

no i downloaded it from website than tryed to run file. yes i that is the jumper that i moved to reset labled JCLR1
thanks

Downloaded what? You must not be talking about the BIOS then because you can't just "run file". Normally, you have to download the BIOS file along with the flash utility, copy then to a bootable floppy disk, then boot off the disk to perform the flash. However, MSI doesn't list a BIOS file for your board...it can only be updated using the Live Update method.
You need to be more specific about what you were doing. Is it possible that you downloaded the wrong file & THAT is why the system locked up?
