Hi all I hope someone can help me on a display issue I am having.

I have just built a PC with MSI main board K9VGM-V with a via chipset. I have installed all components namely;

2 X 512 DDR2
Athlon64 3000
200 GB SATA 1.5 Hard Drive
Sony DVD writer.

When I switched the computer on an error appeared stating “Floppy Disk Error”. As I did not have a floppy disk I entered the bios and disabled the floppy disk.

Prior to this I noticed that the initial bios screen which displayed ram, processor, HD’s etc was flickering.

The text/numbers where appearing and disappearing like a horror film or something. I restarted and this time half the screen was white and I could not see much. I did still notice certain numbers/letters appearing and disappearing.

I have unplugged all drives to see if that made a difference but it did not. I have tried the RAM sticks individually and in different slots but that has not fixed the problem.

I think it’s a display problem with the onboard display chip.

Could anyone guide me in the right direction,

Cheers.

Max.

it might be, on-board graphics rarely go wrong, but i have known it once. Only way to be sure is to put a separate graphics card in.
It is NOT drivers as that would not cause problem on post screen.
Unlikely to be monitor/monitor cable but you should try another moniotr just to be sure.
