i am sure all of you, though especially jboy, will be proud (sarcasm implied) to learn that today i have successfully blown up my tenth computer. i am unsure of what i did but i simply attempted to upgrade the memory and it "blew up", simple stopped working. tried all troubleshooting like put old ram back in reset bios reseat ram etc. no good the mobo just stopped working. well at this point i have realized that jboy plainandsimple and all the others who have told me i am a stupid little kid who doesnt know anything are actually right. this makes the tenth computer mobo i have killed in the past two months and that is way too many for me to realize i actaully have no skill knowledge or future in computers, hardware or software. i apoloigize to everyone for being such an arrogant prick, thinking i knew anything about computers more then the next average joe, and for asking such stupid questions. i know "officially" resign myself from all computer "work", hardware and software, and plan to stop posting or follow-ing up in any forum on this site, at least for a few months. i will still glance at it once a week or so but wont answer or post anymore, seeing as how i have been a complete dumb ass scince i signed up for this site (my whole life, actaully). jboy i am sorry for cussing you out and for the comments about your mother, jam and hero and sorry for wasting your time making you explain things to me and help me with stupid things, and i apoligize to every one for wasting space and bandwidth with my arrogant claims of computer knowledge, and with stupid questions. i herby resign from all "work" on computers, and apoligize to every one for being such a dumb ass. i may start posting again in a few months or something, after i have had alot more practice and done alot of reading on computers, then maybe i wont be such a dumb ass. respond if you wish, i will still be checking my computing.net for the next couple of weeks, just not posting or following up anymore. i am sorry for being a dumb ass.

Scincerly,
Brendan

Well, there's no need for all that.

You just need to backtrack and analyze everything you did with it. Shorts, bad connections, static, bad hardware as well as other things may be the cause. I've often had similar problems with compaqs--it makes it easy to throw them out.

i had many of disasterous events with computers in my time but you NEVER give up on them thats easy, if you have plenty of time just go over everything again with pen and paper and you will eventually sort it.

I agree w/ DAVEINCAPS when he says "No need for that." There's also no need for the dirty talk on there either. I'm surprised Justin hasn't erased that dirty talk and profanity from the post.

I use to work with someone like you. Things break because of too much haste. Forgetting to shut the power off, etc. The next time you try remember. Haste makes waste. First do no harm. Measure twice, cut once. Remember that computers are made from fragile components. You'll be back. Good Luck and take it easier the next time.

If you make 10 responses and 5 were wrong, you helped half the people You also got half the answers.I replied to some messages on computing.net that were flame wars or childish.Justin Weber sent me an e-mail explaining how others with no knowledge of Computing trying to get help could be very confused at the antics.Just stay with Computing.net and only approach the questions and answers as a serious adult.Good luck!!!

Address subject in post and refrain from misleading or childish antics!!!

Hi
just to add
its just part of the learning curve, take some time out find another hobby anything, then pick a book up "repair/build pc's" start from scratch,
just read... and learn to slow down.
i wrote a car off last week, it wont stop me driving just drive more carefully!

You said: "blew up", simple stopped working

Ah, but which? If it "blew up" this implies a bang, sparks or some such thing. In which case the chances are you need a new mobo or RAM or both.

If it "simply stopped working" then maybe it's somthing easier like the RAM isn't seated right or you've dislodged something (eg video card or a connector).

Sometimes new RAM doesn't connect due to tarnish, so clean the edge connectors with a pencil rubber then take the RAM in and out a few times. Try one stick at a time in first postition.

It might be the wrong memory.....
